Jeffrey Lurie made the decision in early 2013 to not bring Andy Reid back as Eagles head coach. Lurie decided after the campaign not to renew Reid's contract., Lurie said at the time he knew what the Reid family was "going through" and had "so much respect for his resilience to be able to endure what he did and his family."Lurie said that Reid didn't push too hard to try to come back to coach the Eagles and instead felt it might be the right move to coach elsewhere."I think he realized that for his family, a change in venue was probably the best," Lurie said, according to Pro Football Mark Lowe Jersey Network. "He certainly is very confident in his ability to be an extremely succe sful coach again. I had that confidence in him, too. In all, the Chiefs are 117-45 under Reid, plus an 11-7 record in the postseason. He has taken Kansas City to three Super Bowls, with one title. He could add a second title if he beats his old team Sunday.Lurie told the Post that when the Chiefs played the 49ers in Super Bowl 54, he was in Los Angeles Dodgers attendance to watch Reid win his first ring. Lurie said he had a chance to catch up with Reid before the game."We had this look, like: 'I know. We tried to do this together for so long. We were so close. We were in all those championship games. Now, Andy, go get it. Go get it,'" Lurie said. "That was part of it. And he roots for us. We want to beat them, certainly, on Sunday.
