Israel kills ‘around 100 Palestinians’ in one day.

Israeli attacks in Gaza in only one day have killed “around 100” Palestinians and wounded hundreds of others, Gaza’s Health Ministry says.

A United Nations Security Council (UNSC) vote on a draft resolution to halt the fighting has been delayed and is now expected on Wednesday.

Israel says it has taken control of the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip. The Israeli army claims that the Hamas force in the area has been “dismantled”.

At least 19,667 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 7. The death toll from Hamas’s attack on Israel stands at nearly 1,140.

Malaysia bans entry of Israeli shipping vessels over Gaza invasion.

In an official statement, the office of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that the immediate ban on ZIM shipping company is in response to Israel’s actions against Palestinians in Gaza.

The statement said Israel is committing “massacre and brutality” against Palestinians.

At the same time, Malaysia said that it has also decided to no longer accept Israel-flagged ships to dock in the country.

In addition, Malaysia will also impose “a ban on any ship en route to Israel from loading cargo at Malaysian ports.”

“Both of these restrictions are effective immediately.”

Journalists in Gaza ‘appear to have been targeted’: CPJ president

Several journalists in Gaza were killed despite “clearly carrying” press insignia and press equipment, Jody Ginsberg, the president of the Committee to Protect Journalists, said in an interview with National Public Radio (NPR).

Ginsberg said those involved in what appears to be “targeted” killings should be held responsible and accountable.

“And that means us being able to investigate those deaths and particularly see if any of those deaths involved the killing – the deliberate killing or targeting of journalists,” she said.

“Journalists are civilians, and civilians should not be targeted in war.”

So far, the CPJ has recorded at least 68 journalists and media workers killed since the conflict broke out on October 7. That includes 61 Palestinians, four Israelis, and three Lebanese.

Among those killed in recent days was Samer Abudaqa, a veteran Al Jazeera cameraman.

Biden: Israel has responsibility to distinguish between Hamas and Palestinian civilians

US President Joe Biden added that Israel had to take care to “minimise civilian deaths” as the death toll from Israeli attacks in Gaza approaches 20,000 since October 7.

However, Biden also emphasised what he called Israel’s “burden” in fighting Hamas, “a military enemy that says they have one goal… the elimination – using terror – of the entire state of Israel”.

He also said that the US was discussing with Israel and Arab states the future formation of a Palestinian state “with Israel’s security guaranteed”.
